Safe Boating Tips – USCG

Hi, I’m Petty Officer Merchant. I’m here to remind you to be safe on the water this weekend.

Don’t be a statistic; wear your life jacket and it will increase your chances of survival.

Here are some things to remember: all children under the age of 12 must wear a life jacket at all times. Have the proper equipment on board, such as a life jacket, a whistle, a signaling device, a signaling mirror and flares. If you get into trouble, we need to know where you are.

Please don’t drink on your boat.

Also remember to let your family members know where you’re going to be, where you’re going to launch from, when you’re coming back, so they have an idea of where to look for you.

Be safe and have fun this weekend.
